The legendary musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, celebrating rock music and human transformation, is coming to Lithuania for the first time. In 1998, Hedwig, born in John Cameron Mitchell's book, took to the off-Broadway stage. She is a rock diva traveling between genders, political regimes, and (un)happy loves, who has heard since childhood in East Germany that in order to go anywhere, she must leave a part of herself behind each time.

Within a couple of years, Stephen Trask's musical reached the main stages of the West End and Broadway and to this day remains one of the most famous works of its genre, celebrating the LGBTQ community and appreciated for both its music and engaging narrative. At its center is Hedwig, who finds her place in the sun every night and experiences the most honest journey toward it every night. Filled with humor and a loud sound, the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a celebration in which the music touches everyone who has ever been rejected, misunderstood, or unloved, and the story gently invites everyone to meet their true selves.

The charismatic Hedwig will be played by Dominykas Vaitiekūnas, an actor and singer well known to audiences, while his main stage partner, Ytzak, will be played by film and theater actress Asta Zacharovaitė. Augustas Gornatkevičius, director of the musical: "Hedwig is one of the most iconic queer characters in the world. She serves as a reference point or marker from which we measure the progress made by both our community and the world at large. I am delighted that Hedwig is finally coming to Lithuania."
